There
are certain natural functions that cannot be
discussed in polite company. In fact, it is
considered vulgar to even mention them.
As a result, some people cannot freely talk
about these natural functions with their
friends, family, or even with their
physician. Some people may even have
difficulty thinking
about these functions.
This creates a cultural environment of
ignorance and silence about these natural
processes, and blinds us to certain diseases
that our cultural practices may produce.
For
example, what do you do when you have to
urinate or defecate and there is no bathroom
nearby? If you are in the woods, you can do
what the bears do. But if you are in the
city, you have to find a bathroom in a
restaurant or some other public place.
Many people are not comfortable using public
restrooms, and choose instead to hold it in
until later, perhaps until they get home.
For a variety of cultural reasons, many
people have hang-ups about their excretion
functions, and this leads them to hold in
their waste.
This can lead to diseases such as
Kidney Stones, Bladder Infections,
Diverticulitis, and Prostate Enlargement.
Some
forms of excretion are deliberately avoided
for social reasons, such as sweating.
This is why antiperspirants are so
popular.
However, you cannot hold in waste
without getting toxic, and ill.
This has relevance for women
suffering from PMS and cramps, as well as
for women suffering from menopausal
discomforts, such as hot flashes, and
spontaneous sweating.
Additionally,
our culture does not allow women to set
aside time while menstruating.
The demands of modern lifestyle
require women to manage their menstrual
flow, while keeping up their normal hectic
pace. The
price is vaginal Yeast Infections and
Cervical Dysplasia.
